65st Annual Verdigris Valley Art Exhibit

CALL FOR ENTRIES TO VERDIGRIS VALLEY ART EXHIBIT

June 23, 2018 - July 12, 2018
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM tuesdays through Saturdays

Artists 18 years and older are invited to submit original artwork for the 65th annual Verdigris Valley Art Exhibit. Artwork will be accepted at the Independence Historical Museum and Arts Center (IHMAC) from Thursday, June 14 to Saturday, June 16 between 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

The public is invited to the artists' reception and critique at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 22 at the IHMAC, 123 North 8th Street, Independence, KS.

The art exhibit is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, June 23-July 12 between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

First and second place awards will be given in the divisions of: Oil/Acrylic Painting, Watercolor Painting, Drawing (pencil, pastel, charcoal), Mixed Media and Three-dimensional work0 (ceramics and sculpture). First place prizes of $200 and second place prizes of $100 will be awarded in each of the above five categories. A cash prize of $250 will be given to the "Sharon Viets Best of Show" entry as selected by the judge. A "People's Choice" Award of $200 selected by popular vote will be given at the completion of the show.

Prize money is donated by Independence businesses and individuals. To make a donation, call IHMAC at 620-331-3515.

The exhibit judge is Jack Weaver, retired Pittsburg Middle School Visual Art Instructor. In addition to teaching art for 34 years, he is a producing artist with pieces in sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking and jewelry.
